The founder of Wix Woodworking, inventor and innovator Randy Wix contracted polio at the age of two and a half.
Despite walking with a full-length brace and a pronounced limp, he mananged to remain mobile. He even traveled the world playing wheelchair basketball!
In 1983, he encountered control issues while testing a new wheelchair. When he looked down to see what was happening, the wheelchair veered off course, causing him to hit the back of a parked truck with the top of his head. Immediately, he realized that he was paralyzed from the neck down.

Remarkably, he was able to regain mobility after months in the hospital. Since the accident, he has had many surgeries and spent a vast amount of time in rehab centers.
With this, he has used many different types of transfer boards.

Recently, while in another rehab center, Randy watched people struggle with the transfer boards that are currently available. As this board has been a long held design, Randy was inspired to use his skills garnered from years of his own fabrication business to create "The Toosh Board"™.
